LIFE

Have you ever stopped to think about where you’re at in your life ? I ask myself how in the world am I about to be 52 years old , I remember back when I was in school thinking I can’t wait to get out of school , all the older people would tell me to enjoy it while I was there because I’d be working soon enough . I thought well at least I’d be getting paid to do it . Well I sure wish I’d listened to those people at the time , because now I’m thinking what happened and how did I get here . So to any of you younger readers enjoy it while you can and enjoy being young . Go on out and do some stupid stuff it will give you some stories to tell when you’re older . Just be smart enough to survive being stupid that is your job . I do wish that I could take back some of the stuff I did but oh well , it was fun at the time…LOL Now I have enjoyed my life and I have done many things in my life that I never would have thought I’d get the chance to do . Right out of high school I went into the Army and that gave me the chance to do stuff I’d never even imagined , I was 17 years old and they asked me if I could drive this Tractor Trailer because I had mentioned that my Dad was a truck driver , now what is a 17 year old guy gonna say ? I said sure I can drive it but I don’t have a license , they reached into the desk drawer and pulled out a paper license and then I had a license…LOL I didn’t even know how to hook up the trailer but I learned fast . I’ve got the chance to write and to sing a jingle on the radio on a major country station in Atlanta years ago , that’s right people I did say sing . I also got the chance to be a DJ on a different station years after that . Me and my wife have hiked down into the Grand Canyon that was just WOW! I will be 52 in November and I still look forward to many more experiences to have . So what are some of the things that have gotten you to where you’re at ? What did people used to tell you while growing up . Feel free to share I look forward to reading your responses and as always thanks for coming by , we’ll see ya next time

MUSIC

Now I will say that I love all kinds of music , My favorite is country music followed by classic rock . I will listen to other kinds of music though , I have 2 daughters that have introduced me to music I probably wouldn’t have heard otherwise . Some of it is pretty good . But I gotta ask like with Rock and Roll you have channels with todays stuff and then you have your classic Rock channels . Now why hasn’t country music stations picked up on this ? I will listen to the stations around the house in the metro Atlanta area . All they play is the new stuff , which once again I do like some of the new stuff but I’d really love to hear some Haggard , Jennings and Jones among a lot more that you don’t hear anymore .You would think that in a city as big as Atlanta that there would be a station that would play classic country , I’m sure there’s as many classic country fans as they as classic Rock fans . Now even with the new country music there is some hope , If you have never heard of Mo Pitney go to You Tube and look him up . He is a young guy with an old sound . I’m sure there’s more out there that ya’ll like. My favorites are Merle Haggard and Don Williams but I have plenty I like . If your talking rock you can’t go wrong with Skynyrd . So there is no wrong answer on this what music do you like and who’s music really talks to you ? If you know of an up and comer please share with the rest of us. And as always thanks for stopping by

AIR CONDITIONER

How many of ya’ll think back to when ya’ll were young and think we didn’t have A/C . I remember growing up and having a big box fan that set in the hallway door that led into the living room , I remember we would take a coat hanger and twist it up so at night time we would put a box fan in the bathroom window and leave our bedroom doors open and it would work like a attic fan and pull the air from the outside and cool it down some . I thought when we actually got a real window fan I thought we were rich …LOL I know we all say nowadays about how we were always outside when were younger and I was too , we always had a neighborhood ballgame going , or had some kind of game going on . But I’ve come to think about it then and now , It was cooler outside than inside the house …..LOL I remember when we finally got a window unit that was just for cooling down the dining room and the living room , Now my Dad was a truck driver and on some nights he would leave out early and when he did , we would all sleep in the living room with the A/C on . I’m sure my Dad figured out what we were doing when he got the power bill . But I’ve got to say I really love my A/C now , In the car or in my house I gotta have it . I don’t know if it’s just hotter now or if I’m just old , maybe a little bit of both . So what is some of your stories growing up with no A/C . Did ya’ll ever spend the night in a room with the ? Did ya’ll put a box fan in the window , what helped ya’ll through the hot nights . Share your stories and as always thanks for stopping by

SUMMER AND THE 4TH

So we’re in the midst of our summer heat , Now I have family and friends out in Texas and I’ve seen they have been over 100 degrees . Now down here in Ga were having our own heat problems but I’m not complaining because Texas has it worse so no matter how bad you think you have it somebody does have it worse . I’m sure theirs people in other places that would take the Texas heat in place of their own . Now I’ve never been to San Francisco but somebody told me it stays between the 70-80 degrees year round , I can’t say that’s right but if it is that would sure be nice . Now when I was a kid the heat didn’t seem to bother me , we were always having a neighborhood ballgame of some sort it depended on what sport was happening at the time , Baseball or Football were a mainstay . So is it just hotter nowadays or am I just getting old…LOL Now I do know I’m getting old but I think another part of it is , we when were kids we didn’t have A/C in the house , so a lot of the time it was cooler under a shade tree . Then come the 4th of July we’d get together to celebrate , and there was home made ice cream , Not everybody back in those days had fireworks like they do now , but we lived close enough to Six Flags over Ga to see their fireworks from the house , we knew where to look over the trees to see them. Summer was fun but also work back in the days we would help out on the family farm in the mountains . I know the kids still look forward to summers because of the no school thing but when you get older unless you’re a teacher you don’t have the summers off anymore . But it does seem to be a time for Family . So go out on an upcoming weekend and make some home made ice cream and if you live close by invite me over I like chocolate . Fall will be here shortly which is my favorite time of the year . So ya’ll have some fun and thanks for stopping by , come back again soon

AUTOMATIC REPLIES

Have ya’ll ever stopped to think about how automatic some of our responses are ? I got to thinking of this the other day , My wife was going off and I told her to be careful , Then I got to thinking how often I tell her and my daughters to be careful . It aint like they are gonna go off and try to be in a wreck or something but for some reason I feel better telling them to be careful . Also how often do we walk by somebody with the response how are you doing and most respond with alright and you . Or we say it sure is hot outside . So how often do we fall into just saying the same old things on a daily basis ? I do try to mix it up some but I fall into this same trap . So what are some of the things that ya’ll fall into the habit of saying ? So that way we can compare notes , Thanks for stopping by and we’ll see ya’ll next time

FATHERS DAY

Here we are at Fathers day weekend . My Dad has been gone for a few years now . But he still lives on with me everyday . He helped make me the person I am today , Now my Dad was a tough acting man who didn’t like to show emotion . He was old school where men were men and men didn’t cry and were taught to be tough . So when my Dad would tell all of us that he was proud of us and that he loved us we knew that he meant it . I still remember times growing up where he would come outside and race all of us kids and he would run in his boots….LOL . Now all the kids in my neighborhood called my parents Maw Maw and Paw Paw , and they would come and show my Dad their report cards . Those were great times to grow up in . Now my Dad taught all of his kids to respect others and to help others out and we have carried that on in life . So my Dads legacy still lives on . I remember growing up we had a neighbor who was sick and my Dad sent me and a brother to cut his grass and do his yardwork for him , and also every year he would take vacation and we would all go and clean the family cemetery plots of family long gone . So he really taught us family was important and took care of each other . I would also like to by say my Father In Law is another great man who taught me how a man can show his love for other people . My Father in Law is a true man of God and has been a true inspiration to me . So here I am rambling on and on about my Dad , so please tell me some memories about your Dad or a man in your life who you look up too . And as always thanks for stopping by

Dream Cars

Remember when we were all younger, just think of the type of car you wanted to get . Me , I wanted an old truck that I could fix up and drive around and look cool in it . Or I wanted a 66 Mustang I always thought those were sharp looking , I love the look of the old cars they catch people’s attention . Now as age comes up on us I did manage to get me an old truck but I never was able to fix it up like I wanted and I had to sale it a couple of years back , So I do love old cars and trucks but I also have to be practical , I have zero mechanical abilities and I don’t have the money to pay to have stuff done . I will continue to love old cars and dream one day I will have one , but until that day comes I will enjoy my Camry and Ranger , so what was your dream car and what are you driving now ? Do you have your dream car ? Thanks for stopping in and come on back when you get the chance

Good Eating Joints

So over the weekend I had a Army Buddy come into town for a visit . Now he lives in North Dakota so I thought I need to take him to a good local restaurant that he can’t eat at back home . So living where I do in Austell Ga there’s one place that most of my local friends know well that would come to mind , and if they guessed Wallace BBQ they would be right . Now being from where he’s from he’d never had Brunswick Stew , he asked me what it was and I couldn’t really think of how to describe it , all I could say is it’s good you gotta try it . He did and he said he has to find him a recipe for it to make at home . So my question for y’all is if I came to your town where would y’all suggest we eat ? No chain restaurants a good local place , maybe it’s a place y’all have ate at while on vacation ? So please leave me your comments and like always thank y’all for stopping by

MOTHERS DAY WEEKEEND

Well here we are at Mothers Day weekend , and I hope all you Momma’s out there really have a great one . I wont to say my Mom left this world just over 2 years ago and I miss her everyday . I remember how my Mom was she was a very giving person . You could not go to her house and not be fed or leave with some groceries or both . We called it going to Mom-Mart….LOL My Mom was born and raised in the North Ga Mountains and the old saying you can take the person out of the woods but you cant take the woods out of the person . That fits my Mom perfectly . I could go on and on about what my Mom did , but I’ll say she shared her love with all that knew her . She raised 5 kids and I know we were a handful . So if you’re reading this and your a Mom HAPPY MOTHERS DAY . So what I will ask share a story about your Mom with the rest of us on here  and if you knew my Mom and want to share a story I would appreciate that as well . So thank ya’ll for coming by and as usual ya’ll come back again real soon
